A Solid Project Reference Book
By APorges
Overview: An excellent resource for getting to know Microsoft Project. The first few chapters offer a nice introduction for those not familiar with how the program works or functions. It also highlights the differences between this and previous versions of the program. As a reference book, it gives a broad overall assessment of the program at various skill levels. However, if you are just beginning to use this software, you will not want to go past chapter 9 or 10 as you actually need experience in order to understand which of the more advanced features will be useful. Only after some real world experience will you want to know more about what the program can offer.
Pros: The book starts off very basic giving a nice tutorial on using Office products. From there it shows the reader how exactly to use Project to perform tasks with an increasing scale of difficulty. Project is an all encompassing program with many functions. But, it seems that this 'Bible' hits all the high notes especially on an introductory level. I especially liked that they point out hot keys, shortcuts and other time saving features.
Cons: I purchased this book as a Kindle product which I would not recommend. If you have to search for a section and don't know the correct phrasing of keywords you will either be visiting the table of contents or Google frequently in order to figure things out. There is something about a physical book that allows for better information finding so to speak. For example, you can create bookmarks using Kindle, but this may not be as intuitive as just knowing which section in the book to flip. Perhaps this is more of a preference issue which may not affect many of you. Just understand that since this is not a reading book you will most likely need to go back and forth between sections multiple times. Another issue that I have encountered is that not everything is listed in the book. For example, I could not find directions on printing/saving to PDF, at least not by searching by keyword.
Most useful feature: The example screenshots are very nicely done and sometimes do a better job explaining how to accomplish a task or describe a feature than the actual text.

Book is not for a beginner
By KevQA
I purchased this book because of a previous book I had purchased called the AutoCAD 2008 Bible. With the AutoCAD 2008 Bible I was able to teach myself AutoCAD while working through a project from start to finish. Not so with this book. I was not even able to make it through chapter 3 before I had to put it on the bookshelf. The book seems to only be a feature list which may be helpful if you are in the middle of a project and get stuck. The book is just pages and pages of information with not very much to do. It may have you open a tab in Project and then explain every single option in that tab. This book may become a valuable addition to my library after I find another book to learn Project 2010 from. I highly recommend beginners to Project do not waste their money on this book.
