About the Author
Ann Belford Ulanov is Christiane Brooks Johnson Memorial Professor of Psychiatry and Religion at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. A Jungian analyst in private practice, she is also the author or coauthor of numerous books, including "The Wizards' Gate", "Cinderella and her Sisters", "The Wisdom of the Psyche", "Picturing God", and "The Feminine in Jungian Psychology and Christian Theology".

A thoughtful and inspiring book

Ms Ann Ulanov has written a thoughtful book about what it means and what is involved in becoming alive. Her book is a reflection on the relationship of depth psychology - from the Jungian point of view - and spirituality that is inherent in the process of individuation. She deftly explores the source of aliveness which leads one to connecting in a new way - with other human beings, nature, and ultimately the divine. Her Christian background is evident throughout the text. This is basically a book about the realization of the Self and what is encountered in the journey of inner work..I would describe her style as conversational, poetic and accessible, and, I think, serves as a good introduction to Jungian psychology. I would also say that this book is to be read at a leisurely pace.
